Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

The following link provides information by grade level for K-8 and for English language arts/literacy and mathematics for 9-12. The guides are provided in English and Spanish courtesy of the National PTA. CCSS Parent Guides

The Arts Academy Information Meeting scheduled for this Thursday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date. Please see Mr. Hayes in HF 17 for information about the Franklin High School Arts Academy.

The Franklin High School Band will be hosting a parade competition on Saturday, October 8, with 26 bands participating. As a result, Franklin High Road will be closed from approximately 11:30 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. The closure of Franklin High Road will not interfere with the public’s ability to enter or exit the Franklin Library parking lot located near the corner of Whitelock Parkway and Franklin High Road. The parking lots at Toby Johnson Middle School (in front of main office and next to the grass fields) will not be accessible.  In addition, street parking along the parade route will not be available.  Spectators are welcome to come out and watch the bands perform!

Road Blocks and Parade Route Map is attached

Please join Elk Grove Unified School District in making school attendance for all students a priority. Elk Grove Unified School District joins school districts across this nation in embracing this commitment to our students and celebrating Attendance Awareness Month Campaign on all our campuses during the month of September. Please discuss with your child the importance attendance has in every aspect of their life and most assuredly being present and prepared every day at school.

Open the attached file for information on Attendance Awareness.

For all those who were unable to attend the first meeting or forgot to sign in, there is another JNHS meeting this Tuesday for thirty minutes in Mrs. Kozuma's room. Please bring your unofficial transcript that has your highlighted Japanese and overall GPAs. We hope to see you Tuesday!
