Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

The following link provides information by grade level for K-8 and for English language arts/literacy and mathematics for 9-12. The guides are provided in English and Spanish courtesy of the National PTA. CCSS Parent Guides

Want an officer position that is not too busy but offers great extracurricular experience?

The Math Assistance Program (also known as MESA Tutoring) has been a part of Franklin High School's community for many years, helping students who struggle with math succeed in the classroom.

But to keep the program going strong, we are in need of more coordinators: people who manage the program. As a coordinator, you supervise sessions, and collaborate with other tutors to make sure students get the help they need. You also advertise and recruit more tutors, making sure others know of this great opportunity. Overall: you are in charge of the program's success here on campus, and your decisions directly benefit your peers. With the opportunity to improve your own speaking, critical thinking, organizational, and math skills, it is a great position to put in your extracurricular activities. So please help us make this program the best that it can be!

If you are interested see the application attached and turn it in to Mr. Ash in Room HN11. Don't be intimidated - just give some information about you and what you can contribute to the program - it's easy!

Contact Evelyn Nguyen or Ulysses Chong if you have any questions.

Thank you very much!
