Common Core State Standards

Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are an updated set of curricular standards that have been developed with the intention of unifying curricula and standards across all 50 states. Schools in California will teach to these standards beginning with the 2014-15 school year. For more information click here EGUSD - Common Core State Standards .

For a summary of the CCSS in a short 3 minute video, please click on the following link CCSS Video .  This video was presented on our morning bulletin for all of our students to see.

Currently, the staff at Franklin High has been participating in professional development provided by the district, site, and outside programs to effectively assist in implementing these new standards.

PSAT - October 14th

PSAT Registration begins Monday, August 31st for 9th and 11th grade students. 

The deadline for registration has been extended to Friday, October 2nd.

PSAT will be a Reverse Minimum on Wednesday, October 14th.  

9th and 11th grade students must check into the MP Room at 7:30. 

All 10th grade students will test for Free in their Advisory classes.  

Testing will begin promptly at 7:55.

The lunches will begin at 11:20 for non-testers.

Teen Town Hall Forum 2015

We are holding this event to solicit feedback from our youth on current issues in the community! This is an opportunity to voice concerns and be heard. City Staff from various departments will be available to answer questions. On October 22 from 6:00-8:00 p.m, the Elk Grove Youth Commission will be holding the Teen Town Hall Forum at the City Council Chambers (8400 Laguna Palms Way). Attached is the flyer for the event. If you would still like to have your voice heard but cannot attend the event, please complete the online survey linked below. FREE PSAT Cram Sessions Sept 17 - Oct 25

The New PSAT is fast approaching! Students will have lots of questions about all the changes as the test approaches. To help students walk into the PSAT feeling prepared and confident, Kaplan is hosting free last-minute prep for the New PSAT. Our Cram Sessions for the New PSAT are intensive, 90-minute online classes taught by expert Kaplan instructors. They are packed with the most important material to boost students’ scores on every section of the New PSAT, including:

      Overview: Summary of test format, structure, and scoring

      Strategies: Learn 10 Top Score-Raising Tips

      Plan: Detailed study schedule leading up to the test

      Timeline: What to do after the PSAT, from the SAT & ACT to college applications

      Comparisons: How the New PSAT relates to the New SAT- and why that matters

EGUSD College & Career Fair - Oct 7th

The Elk Grove Unified School District will host it's 23rd annual College and Career Fair on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Laguna Creek High School. The event will begin at 6:30 pm with over a hundred representatives from colleges, business and all military branches in attendance.
